Checklist

  1. were the estimation challenging enough for kids?
  2. Were the kids trying to balance the jenga pieces in a random orders and making it taller and stable?

how to play

Divide the children into groups of 3-4 . Begin by telling a short story, such as being architects designing towers on a floating island or creating magical castles for tiny creatures, to spark imagination. Give each group a set of Jenga blocks and explain that they can build any type of structure they like, focusing on a strong and stable base. Encourage them to estimate the height of their tower before building and challenge them to construct 3D shapes with equal sides, such as cubes or pyramids. If children have difficulty, give hints such as: How can you make the base wider or more stable? How can you stack the blocks evenly on all sides? Make sure each child gets enough time to build, test, and enjoy their creation while practicing estimation, balance, and problem-solving skills.

Challanges

  1. Provide the same number of Jenga blocks to a few kids and ask them to make a tower taller and stronger than the others.
  2. Estimate the height of the tower made.

Questions to be asked

  1. How tall can you make your city buildings before they fall over?
  2. If the length of a Jenga block is 5cm, how many blocks are necessary to make a 100cm long tower?
